YAM AND LOBIA SABJI



I never knew why the world produced yam until I found out this recipe and many more to come

INGREDIENTS:
  • Yam – 1 cup ( chopped into cubes)
  • Lobia ( cooked ) – ½ cup
  • Coconut scraped – 2 tbsps
  • Chilly- 1
  • Garlic cloves – 3
  • Turmeric pwd – ¼ tsp
  • Salt – for taste
  • Jeera / cumin powder – ½ tsp
  • Mustard – 1 tsp
  • Chilli flakes – ½ tsp
  • Curry leaves – 1 stem
  • Oil – 1 tbsp( coconut oil preferred)
METHOD:
  1. In a cooker put the yam and add ¼ cup of water,salt and little turmeric and cook till yam is done ( allow five to six whistles and leave in pressure )
  2. In a blender mix coconut, jeera pwd,chilly,garlic,turmeric pwd and grind to a coarse paste.
  3. In a pan crackle the mustard seeds, add the chilli flakes and curry leaves.
  4. To this add the coconut paste and mix well.Cook for 2 – 3 mins and then add the cooked yam and lobia to this and mix everything together.
  5. When the water dries up and the gravy becomes thick remove from flame.
  6. Serve hot.
